Iranian short documentary ‘The Lady of Love’ has applied to take part in the Cinema Verite, Iran’s major documentary film festival.

Directed by Mehdi Rashvand, the short doc that is a Soureh Documentary Center’s production has requested to take part in the 16th edition of the Iranian event.

‘The Lady of Love’ is the life story of Fatemeh Zakerian, who has revived the art of Tobafi (towels weaving) in her homeland, Khorashad Village, in South Khorasan Province.

Her endeavors and contributions have become the reason for the village to be registered as the international village of Tobafi.

A brief synopsis for the flick reads, “Miracles take place with love. The story begins when a woman decides to revive the village. She issued a call, the village women received it and gathered; although, they had no hope in it. They were all hopeless. Merely, an old woman stayed with her…”.

Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of Cinema Verite was held in 2007.

Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary film calendar.

The Cinema Verite aims at protecting the nation's identity, promoting creative documentary, reinforcing the link between documentary cinema and social facts and events, introducing new global developments in documentary cinema, providing financial support for documentarians by distributing and screening their works in other festivals and removing hurdles to film production.
